Vacation Bible School - AM and PM Sessions
July 16-20 is the week for Vacation Bible School and will include children three years
old by January 1, 2012, through children who have completed grade 5. This year’s theme is “Operation Overboard: Dare to Go Deep With God!” Children will be challenged to dive into the waters of God’s Word and discover what it means to have deep faith. Deep Sea Voyage Bible stories introduce people from the Old Testament and New Testament who show deep faith by depending on God, daring to care, claiming Jesus, choosing to follow, and changing the world.
AM Session is 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. or PM Session is 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Plunge each day into Aquatic Arts/crafts, High Tide Hangout/games, The Underwater Passage/Bible story, Choral Reef/music, Exploration Station/science, and Diver’s Diner/snacks. Parents will be invited to a closing celebration on Friday in the last fifteen minutes in Friendship Hall.
Down on the Farm
On Tuesday, June 12, the 1st and 2nd graders will go to the Deanna Rose Farmstead. Meet all
the farm animals, feed the goats, take a wagon ride, mine for precious gem stones, ride a pony, explore the Kanza Indian Encampment, visit the dairy barn, shop at the country store, see the one room schoolhouse, walk a nature trail, enjoy the playground, and have a picnic lunch. Leave the south lot at 9:30 a.m., traveling by bus, and return by 2:30 p.m. All activities and sack lunch are included in your $15 registration fee.
Sea Life Aquarium at Crown Center
On Tuesday, July 10, the 3rd and 4th graders will travel to Crown Center for a brand new
attraction. SEA LIFE at Crown Center will have a two-story aquarium housing more than 30 spectacular displays of diverse marine life - everything from shrimp and starfish to seahorses, sharks and rays. In addition, a stunning centerpiece will be a huge tropical ocean tank with a walk-through underwater tunnel. A unique element reflecting the Kansas City locale, SEA LIFE Kansas City will take visitors on an enthralling 2-3 hour journey from the fresh waters of the Missouri River into the mighty Mississippi River, then out into the warm blue coral strewn waters of the Caribbean Sea, ending in the deep dark abyss of the Atlantic Ocean. Leave the south lot at 9:30 a.m., traveling by bus, and return by 2:30 p.m. All activities and lunch at Fritz’s Railroad Restaurant are included in your $15 registration fee.
Summer Church School
During June, July and August, the children explore Bible stories, songs, crafts and games.
